Summary

$4 billion gold, $1 billion silver, into the Texas Bullion Depository!

The bill orders the state comptroller to try to buy $4 billion in gold and $1 billion in silver during the 2025-2027 budget period. It moves $5 billion out of the state's general revenue fund to pay for the purchase and puts the metal in the Texas Bullion Depository in a state account. Taxpayer money that would otherwise sit in the general fund becomes state-held precious metal starting September 1, 2025.
