Summary
A fake using a real child under 14 becomes a state jail felony.
The bill widens the existing Texas offense for sexual deep fakes so it covers still images as well as videos, and it adds producing them, not just distributing them. It touches anyone who knowingly makes or electronically shares a fake image or video showing a real person's intimate parts or sexual conduct without that person's consent. The offense stays a Class A misdemeanor but becomes a state jail felony when the fake uses a depiction of a real child made when the child was under 14, starting September 1, 2025.
