Summary

Report due December 1, 2026. No restriction, and the whole thing expires at the end of 2026.

The bill orders the University of Houston to pick a department to study how much PFAS chemicals are used in fracking in Texas, whether the public is exposed, health and environmental effects, alternatives, and whether the chemicals should be restricted. The study is done in collaboration with the Railroad Commission and the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality, and a report goes to the legislature by December 1, 2026. Nothing changes on the ground for drillers or the public; no restriction is imposed, and the law expires at the end of 2026.
