Summary

Early-grade teachers and principals no longer have to attend.

The bill deletes the rule that every kindergarten through third grade teacher and principal must attend a state teacher literacy achievement academy. It touches school districts, charter schools, and their early-grade teachers and principals. Schools still must use a phonics curriculum and certify their teacher placement and reading diagnostics, but staff no longer have to complete the academy training.
