Summary

Primary day, November general, or a May date with an election already on.

The bill limits when a Texas school district can hold an election asking voters to approve bonds. Bond elections would have to fall on the same day as a party primary, the November general election for state and county officers, or a May uniform election date when a general election is already being held inside the district. School boards could no longer call bond votes on other dates, so these measures would share the ballot with regularly scheduled elections that usually draw more voters.

district, in accordance with the Election Code, except as provided

by this subchapter [ section ]. Each election must be called by

resolution or order of the governing board or commissioners court.

The resolution or order must state the date of the election, the

a general election for state and county officers, or a general

election held in the boundaries of the school district on the May

uniform election date.

SECTION 3. This Act takes effect September 1, 2025.
