Wells, tanks, pipelines and mines, from above. The state’s drone-image limits don’t apply.

The bill adds the Railroad Commission of Texas, and its agents and employees, to the state list of people who may lawfully take pictures with drones, when inspecting oil and gas sites, pipeline facilities and surface mines. It also says the commission's existing right to inspect oil property at all times includes inspection by drone. Commission inspectors can fly drones over wells, tanks, disposal sites, pipelines and mines without facing the state's drone-image restrictions, starting immediately or September 1, 2025.
