Summary

IVF joins birth control devices and oral contraceptives on the list.

This bill changes the state health code's definition of abortion so that in vitro fertilization is not counted as an abortion, alongside birth control devices and oral contraceptives. It also adds a definition of in vitro fertilization: collecting eggs, fertilizing them by hand with sperm, and later placing them in a uterus. Doctors, clinics and patients using IVF would have that practice expressly kept outside the abortion definition in this chapter starting September 1, 2025.
