Summary

The half-credit economics course must include it.

The bill changes the high school graduation requirement for the half-credit economics course so that it must include personal financial literacy, replacing the current option of taking either economics or personal financial literacy and economics. It touches Texas public high school students entering ninth grade in the 2025-2026 school year or later, plus the State Board of Education and school districts that set and teach the curriculum. On the ground, every new high schooler's required economics half-credit will have to cover personal finance, while students already in higher grades keep the old rule.
