Summary
Notice before the school year and a week before the lesson.
The bill requires every Texas school district to send parents written notice before each school year, and a week before the lesson, of any curriculum, material or activity that teaches about religion or religious values. The notice must describe the content and schedule and tell parents they can review the materials, pull their child from that instruction without penalty, and file a grievance. The definition is broad, covering references to religious texts, figures, holy days, institutions and a religion's impact on history, so districts will have to flag a wide range of lessons starting September 1, 2025.
