The bill adds criminal investigators who work for a public defender's office to the short list of people who can receive a driver's photo from state motor vehicle records for an official purpose. It touches public defender offices, the people whose photos are on file, and the state agencies that hold those records. Starting September 1, 2025, public defender investigators can get those photos the same way police and certain state investigators already can.
