Summary

Any benefit offered to private school students must also reach students at religious schools.

The bill adds a rule to the Education Code that bars any public school benefit under Title 2 from being denied to a private school student just because the school is religious or teaches religion. It touches the state, local governments, state agencies, and educational institutions that hand out these benefits, along with students at religious private schools. On the ground, any benefit already offered to private school students must also go to students at religious schools, starting September 1, 2025.

AN ACT

relating to prohibiting the denial of public benefits for students

BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS:
