Summary

Leftover Foundation School Program money gets reported by September 1.

The bill says federal money sent to Texas for public schools can only be budgeted for public school purposes in Texas. It also orders the education commissioner, by September 1 after any school year in which the state set aside more Foundation School Program money than districts were owed, to tell the Legislative Budget Board about the leftover money. The commissioner must then send that leftover money, minus any amount needed under an existing section of the school finance law, to every school district in an equal amount per weighted student.
