Summary
Any campus or district. No transfer agreement needed.
The bill lets a peace officer who is a parent or guardian ask to move their child to a different campus in the same district, or to any other school district in Texas, even if the two districts have no transfer agreement. A district must approve the transfer unless the campus is full or has more transfer requests than open spots, and the receiving district cannot charge tuition. Starting with the 2025-2026 school year, children of peace officers get a near-guaranteed, tuition-free transfer right that other families do not have.
