Summary

Class B misdemeanor to third-degree felony. Second-degree with sexual intent, plus the registry.

This bill raises the penalty for enticing a child from a Class B misdemeanor to a third-degree felony, and to a second-degree felony when the person meant to sexually abuse the child. It touches anyone convicted of enticing a child, and puts those with the sexual-intent version on the sex offender registry and the sexually violent offense list. Starting September 1, 2025, every enticing case is a felony, and the bill drops the old misdemeanor version of this offense from the state DNA collection list because felony arrests are already covered there.
