Summary

DSHS writes it and reviews it at least every five years.

The bill directs the Department of State Health Services to write a state plan for preventing and treating HPV among Texas college students, with input from the public, agencies, advocates, providers and a physicians' group, and to review the plan at least every five years. It also requires the Higher Education Coordinating Board and the department to jointly run an HPV awareness program for college students that includes outreach and posting prevention, screening and treatment information on both agencies' websites. The agencies are told to use existing resources where possible, may add a study of HPV's impact on the state, and the law takes effect September 1, 2025.
