Summary

More power under Texas law. Still not Texas peace officers.

The bill gives federal National Park Service officers more power under Texas law, though they still are not Texas peace officers. On top of their existing power to arrest, search and seize for state offenses in national parks and recreation areas, they could carry out any Texas arrest or search warrant and use the powers a peace officer has under Chapters 573 and 574 of the Health and Safety Code. It touches people in and around national parks in Texas, and it takes effect right away with a two-thirds vote or on September 1, 2025.
