Summary

The benefits board must develop a plan based on treating providers’ medical judgments.

The bill orders the board that runs the state employee health plan to develop a plan for covering any care or treatment that a member's own doctor or provider calls medically necessary. It touches state employees, retirees and their covered family members, plus the board of trustees that runs their benefits. In practice, the board must draw up a plan for plan years starting January 1, 2026, but the text never says the coverage must actually be put in place or sets a deadline for finishing the plan.
