Other designs are out in 2025. Big cities’ five Texas murals wait until 2027, after the election.
The bill says every marked crosswalk in Texas must be painted either with solid white lines or with a Texas-themed mural showing the state's shape in the colors of the Texas flag. It touches every local government that paints crosswalks, and adds a special duty for cities of 100,000 or more people to find their five busiest pedestrian intersections and paint Texas murals there. Any other crosswalk design is no longer allowed starting September 1, 2025, but the big-city mural duty does not apply until September 1, 2027.
