Summary

Gulf shrimp caught beyond Texas waters counts as imported.

This bill requires Texas restaurants and other food service establishments that serve shrimp from outside Texas to tell customers so, either with a posted sign or on the menu. It counts Gulf of Mexico shrimp caught beyond Texas state waters as imported, and it directs the state health commissioner to write rules to carry it out. Restaurants serving out-of-state or offshore shrimp would need to post that notice starting March 1, 2026.
