Summary

Repeals Section 41.001(d) of the Election Code.

The bill removes a cross-reference that limited when a county elections administrator must contract to run elections for cities, school districts and other local governments, and it repeals Section 41.001(d) of the Election Code. The caption says this targets elections held on the first Saturday in May in even-numbered years, so county elections administrators and the local governments that hold those May elections are the ones touched. Once the bill takes effect on September 1, 2025, a county elections administrator asked by a political subdivision must contract to run that May election, at a cost both sides agree on.
