Summary

Chickens join rain barrels and composting on the protected list.

The bill adds chickens to the list of things a property owners' association cannot ban or restrict, alongside rain barrels, composting and drought-resistant yards. It touches homeowners living under HOA rules and the associations that write and enforce those rules. Starting September 1, 2025, an HOA cannot include or enforce a rule that stops an owner from keeping chickens, as long as the city's own ordinance allows chickens on that property.
