The bill's only action is a study and a report due after the next election, and any change to district size waits for a later legislature. The caption says it is a study, so this is honest.

Summary

Report due December 31, 2026. The law expires the next day!

The bill orders the Texas education commissioner to study what size a school district should be to run efficiently and get good student results. It touches the Texas Education Agency and, through the data reviewed, every school district, but it puts no new duty on any district. Nothing changes on the ground except a report to the House and Senate education committees due by December 31, 2026, with recommendations, and the law expires January 1, 2027.
