Caption from analyzed text · version I.

Summary

Applies to an unmarried minor with actual custody of their child.

The bill lets an unmarried minor who is a parent and has actual custody of their child consent to their own medical, dental, psychological, and surgical care. It keeps that same minor parent's existing power to consent to care for their child, moving that rule into a new section of the Family Code. Minor parents with custody can now get their own treatment without a parent's or guardian's sign-off, starting September 1, 2025.
