Summary

Utilities hand over data, no individual usage. Posted quarterly, summarized yearly.

The bill requires ERCOT, the grid operator, to collect zip-code-level data on how retail electric customers respond to its calls to conserve power. Electric cooperatives, city-owned utilities, retail electric providers and wire companies must hand over that information when ERCOT asks, but they may not share individual customer usage data or personal information. ERCOT must post updated analyses on its website at least every quarter and send the Legislature an annual summary report.
