Summary

Apply in person, walk out with it.

The bill orders the Department of Public Safety to hand out a new, renewed, corrected, or replacement driver's license on the spot when an eligible person applies in person at a driver's license office. It touches every Texan who walks into a driver's license office and the department that runs those offices. Instead of waiting for a card to arrive later, eligible applicants would leave with their license the same day, starting January 1, 2026.
