Summary

New facilities from 2027, existing ones nearly ten years out. The plan may repay costs.

The bill requires nursing facilities to hold a state Alzheimer's care certification before they can care for people with Alzheimer's disease and related disorders, and it orders the state health commission to write a plan to phase that in. Nursing facilities, their residents, and the Health and Human Services Commission are affected, and the plan may repay certified facilities for part or all of their certification costs. New facilities licensed on or after January 1, 2027 need the certification right away, but existing facilities do not have to hold it until January 1, 2035.
