Summary

The $750,000 civil cap goes away. State jail felonies come in.

The bill widens what cases the county courts at law in Hidalgo County can hear, so they share that work with the district court. It removes the $750,000 cap on civil cases those courts can take, and it lets them hear criminal cases for offenses punishable as a state jail felony. Starting September 1, 2025, new cases filed there fall under the wider rules, while cases already filed stay under the old law.
