Summary

State peace and custodial officers get military time credited at officer level.

The bill sets rules for when a state employee's military service can count as law enforcement or custodial officer service in the Employees Retirement System of Texas. It touches state peace officers and custodial officers in the ERS plans who want their military time credited at the officer level. Military time counts that way only if the member either was new to the system or was working an officer job right before serving, and then took an officer job as their first job after serving, with the ERS board writing rules to define timing.
