Summary

Limits apply only on public highways.

The bill removes ports of entry between Texas and Mexico from the state's truck weight limits, so the limits apply only on public highways. It also widens an existing exemption so trucks running only on private roads tied to any port of entry, and crossing public highways between them under a permit contract, are free of the limits, not just trucks at a private port. Heavy freight trucks working at and around border ports could legally carry more weight starting September 1, 2025.
