Summary
Your old district, within a year of college, in a county of 150,000 or fewer.
The bill gives certain new public school employees credit for at least five years of experience on the state minimum salary schedule, even if they have less. It covers classroom teachers, full-time librarians, certified full-time school counselors and full-time school nurses with under five years of experience who, within one year of earning a college degree, go to work for the district they graduated high school from, at a campus in a county of 150,000 people or fewer. Starting with the 2025-2026 school year, these returning graduates would be placed higher on the pay schedule, so their districts must pay them at least the minimum salary for a five-year employee.
