THE TEXT

…“the insurer may waive the policyholder's liability for premiums on the individual for any subsequent months”…

Bill text, introduced version (I)

The only operative verb in both sections is "may waive." It creates no duty, penalty, or deadline, so a group plan holder that reports late gets relief only if the insurer chooses to give it.

Summary

The only operative verb is “may waive.” No duty, no penalty, no deadline.

The bill lets HMOs and health insurers choose to forgive premiums an employer or other group plan holder owes for a worker or member who lost eligibility, when the holder reported that loss late. It touches group plan holders, HMOs, and insurers in Texas, and only applies when no covered care was given after the month eligibility ended. Nothing changes unless an insurer or HMO decides to waive, because the bill grants permission and creates no requirement.
