Elderly people can ask for help removing an abuser from home.
The bill requires the state's adult protective services department to help an elderly person, when asked, get a temporary emergency court order removing an abuser from the elderly person's home. It touches elderly Texans facing physical or verbal abuse that is alleged to be family violence, plus the department staff who must provide the help. Starting September 1, 2025, an elderly person can request and receive department assistance with these orders, and the commissioner writes rules to carry it out.
