Summary

30 single-parent families in job training get child care paid.

The bill orders the Texas Workforce Commission to run a pilot program in the Borderplex workforce development area that pays for after-hours child care for 30 single-parent families whose parents are in short-term job training. It lets experienced child-care center workers get a special license to watch those children in their own homes as listed family homes, and it makes those caregivers eligible for the state's subsidized child-care program. The state must report on results by December 1, 2028, and the program ends September 1, 2029.
