Summary

Today it’s only on request. Prosecutors can also get the whole file, confidential parts included.

The bill requires the state child protective agency to immediately notify a county or district attorney of every report of suspected child abuse or neglect in their jurisdiction. Today that happens only if a district attorney asks for it. It also requires the agency to hand over the full report and investigation file, including confidential information, when a prosecutor asks, while blocking the prosecutor from releasing those records under the public information law.
