The bill's only operative content is a study and a written report due December 1, 2026. Any change to jail conditions waits for a later Legislature to act on the recommendations.
Report due December 1, 2026. Any change waits on a later Legislature.
The bill tells the state Commission on Jail Standards to study living conditions and safety for people held in the Harris County jail. It touches only that one county jail and the commission that already inspects Texas jails. Nothing changes inside the jail; the commission must send the Legislature a written report with recommendations by December 1, 2026, and the bill expires September 1, 2027.
