relating to the definition of holster for purposes of certain criminal offenses.

Summary

A leather, fabric or plastic case for a handgun. Now in the Penal Code.

The bill adds a definition of "holster" to the weapons chapter of the Penal Code: a leather, fabric, or plastic case designed for carrying a handgun. It touches anyone whose handgun-carry conduct turns on whether the gun was in a holster under the existing weapons offenses. Courts and police would have a fixed meaning for the word starting September 1, 2025, and that meaning applies only to conduct on or after that date.
