Summary

Paid before September 1, 2009? Get topped up to the newer rates.

The bill lets people who were paid for wrongful imprisonment before September 1, 2009 claim extra money to bring them up to the higher amounts paid after that date. It touches exonerated people compensated under the older, lower rates and the comptroller, who must review applications and pay eligible claimants within 30 days of approval. Claimants have until September 1, 2028 to apply, and the provision expires September 1, 2029.
