Summary

Almond, oat and soy milk need new names in Texas.

The bill defines milk as a liquid from the mammary glands of female mammals and defines a milk product as any product containing milk. It bars any person from labeling, advertising or representing a product as milk or a milk product unless it meets those definitions. Makers and sellers of plant-based drinks such as almond, oat or soy milk would have to stop calling them milk in Texas starting September 1, 2025.
