Summary

Built to FORTIFIED standards means you meet the underwriting rules.

The bill tells the Texas Windstorm Insurance Association to treat new buildings certified as built to the FORTIFIED home, multifamily, or commercial standards as automatically meeting its underwriting rules. It affects property owners and builders in the association's coverage area, along with the association itself, which must update its plan of operation. New structures built to that published standard on or after September 1, 2025 cannot be turned down for failing the association's underwriting standards.
