Caption from analyzed text · version I.

Summary

Builds on the existing waiver for criminal justice or law enforcement study.

The bill widens the existing rule that requires public colleges and universities to waive tuition and lab fees for working peace officers who study criminal justice or law enforcement. It covers peace officers employed by the state or a local government who are in a criminal justice or law enforcement degree program, are making satisfactory progress, and apply at least a week before registration closes. The bill drops the word 'undergraduate' so graduate students also qualify, covers any course in the criminal justice or law enforcement curriculum, repeals subsection (c) of the current law, and starts with the fall 2025 semester.
