Summary

A nine-member commission, a report by December 1, 2026, and it expires in 2027.

The bill creates a nine-member Commission to Study Measures to Abolish Ad Valorem Taxes, chaired by the comptroller, with three senators, three House members and two public members picked by the governor. The commission must study what other taxes could replace the money local governments would lose if property taxes were abolished and send a report with recommendations to state leaders by December 1, 2026. No property tax changes; members get expense reimbursement but no pay, comptroller staff do the work, and the commission and the Act expire September 1, 2027.
