Rear plate only, $50 a year, plus a windshield sticker.
The bill lets Texas drivers skip the front license plate and display only a rear plate if they pay the state an extra $50 every year. Drivers who choose this must also show a special windshield sticker from the transportation department, and the fee money goes into the state highway fund. Driving with only a rear plate and no valid sticker becomes an offense under the existing plate law, but a court may dismiss the charge if the driver fixes the problem before the first court date and pays up to $10.

WHAT IT DOES
Rear plate only, $50 a year, plus a windshield sticker.
