relating to health benefit plan coverage for chimeric antigen receptor T-cell therapy.

Caption from analyzed text · version E.

Summary

Plans that cover it pay at any certified in-network provider.

This bill says that a health plan that already covers CAR T-cell cancer therapy must also pay for it at any in-network provider certified under the FDA's approval for that therapy, as long as the treatment is medically necessary. It reaches most state-regulated commercial health plans, including small employer and standard plans, but leaves out Medicaid and CHIP. Insurers could no longer limit this therapy to a narrower set of accredited centers, starting with plans issued or renewed on or after January 1, 2026.
