Bill text, introduced version (I)

The bill's only duty is for a state office to write a recommended policy and report on it by September 1, 2026. Local governments get a policy that is only 'capable of being adopted,' with no duty to use it. The caption honestly says the bill is about developing a model policy.

Summary

Report due September 1, 2026. The law expires a month later!

The bill orders the Office of Court Administration to write a recommended model policy on keeping guns and ammunition away from people the law already bars from having them, and on how those people transfer their guns away. The policy is offered to cities, counties, courts and local police, who are not required to adopt it. The only firm outcome is a report to state leaders due by September 1, 2026, and the law expires a month later.
