Summary
First-degree felony, 25 years to life.
This bill raises the penalty for human trafficking to a first-degree felony with 25 years to life when any part of the offense happens near more kinds of places. It adds school bus stops, school pick-up and drop-off zones, colleges and universities, and the inside of school buses and other school passenger vehicles to the existing list, which already covers places like schools, shelters and child-care facilities. Starting September 1, 2025, people convicted of trafficking tied to those added places face the same higher sentence range already used for the original list.
