Summary

Homes, apartments, dorms, hotels and fraternity houses get detectors.

The bill requires owners of certain newly built homes, apartment buildings, dorms, hotels, and fraternity or sorority houses to have carbon monoxide detectors. It covers only properties whose construction begins on or after September 1, 2025, and it lets the state health commission add other residential property types and set rules for how many detectors go where and how they are maintained. Owners of covered properties may not sell, lease, or transfer them unless the detectors are installed as the rules require.
