Summary

Changes the renewal education rule for property tax arbitrators.

The bill changes the continuing education rule for people who renew their agreement with the comptroller to serve as arbitrators in property tax appraisal appeals. It keeps the eight-hour requirement in arbitration and dispute resolution but lets that education come either from a university, college, real estate trade association, or legal association, or from a continuing legal education course approved by the state bar or the supreme court. Arbitrators who are lawyers can count their regular approved legal education toward renewal starting September 1, 2025.
