Summary

A free three-hour online course, within six months and yearly after.

The bill requires every court-appointed guardian to take a free three-hour online course on dementia and Alzheimer's disease within six months of appointment and at least once a year after that. It touches guardians, the Texas Supreme Court, which must write the rules by January 1, 2026, and the Judicial Branch Certification Commission, which must post the course online by July 1, 2026. Guardians already serving must finish their first course by September 1, 2026, and courts can waive the training in circumstances the Supreme Court sets.
