Summary

Only places making 51 percent or more from alcohol can post it.

The bill says only businesses that make 51 percent or more of their money from selling alcohol can post the red "51" sign warning that licensed handgun carriers may not carry inside. If the Texas Alcoholic Beverage Commission finds a license or permit holder posting that sign when it should not, the business pays a $1,000 penalty the first time and loses its license or permit the next time. The sign must now also show a commission phone number for reporting misuse, and the commission must post online a list of the businesses that are required to display it.
