Summary
No turning down a placement, unless it’s not in the child’s best interest.
The bill adds a rule to the Family Code saying that a child in state foster care custody cannot turn down an appropriate placement chosen by the Department of Family and Protective Services. The only exception is when the placement is not in the child's best interest. Children in state conservatorship would lose the ability to refuse a placement on their own, starting September 1, 2025.
